Ricky Watters is a former All-Pro Running Back for the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks. He’s known for his unique high-step running style, exceptional receiving skills and passion for winning.

Ricky was born and raised in the inner city of Harrisburg, PA. He was adopted at a young age by his father who earned a Purple Heart in the Korean War and his mother who was a nurse who cared for the elderly. He attended the University of Notre Dame and won a National Championship with his team in 1988. Ricky believes his competitive nature and determination to make a better life for himself and his family propelled him to success in football.

Ricky remains passionate about giving back to the community and continues to inspire young athletes and foster teens. His message is about staying true to yourself, overcoming adversity and becoming a better individual after each life challenge.

Adoption still carries a stigma, especially for children and teens. As an adoptee himself, Ricky strives to change this narrative with his upcoming children's picture book, A Gift Called Shane. Recounting the story of adopting his younger son, Shane, this book is a celebration of the anticipation, excitement, and love surrounding the adoption process.
